Training for the Future of Spaceflight Starts With Basic Space Training at the NASTAR Center
Southampton, PA, USA. April 2, 2012 – The NASTAR® Center, the premier commercial aerospace training and research center in the world, restructures its most popular space training course with updated material and content to better prepare upcoming commercial spaceflight participants for space. The course prepares prospective spaceflight participants for the acceleration forces, vibrations, sights, sounds, and expectations involved during coming commercial spaceflights.
Basic Space Training is an entry-level, two-day course which provides the core knowledge and skills necessary to introduce space travelers to suborbital spaceflight. Through a combination of academic instruction, hands-on exercises, and realistic simulated space flight exposures, participants will become safe, confident, and capable space passengers.
“Space will soon be accessible to all of mankind for the first time in history,” explains Brienna Henwood, Director of Space Training and Research at NASTAR Center. “Since each of our 250 space trainees handle the physical, mental, and emotional impacts of space differently, the NASTAR Center Basic Space Training course is really a must for anyone considering going to space so you know what to really expect during flight.”
Participants will receive a mission kit including course book, team photo, certificate of completion, and a personal DVD of their spaceflight experience as well as a NASTAR Center Suborbital Passenger Card and certificate of achievement from NASTAR Center, an FAA Safety Approved Center.
The National AeroSpace Training And Research Center, located just outside Philadelphia, PA, has been in operation since 2007 and was the first training center approved by the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Commercial Space Transportation (FAA AST) to provide Commercial Spaceflight Training. Thus far, the NASTAR Center has trained over 240 people for upcoming commercial spaceflights.
